Youth Employment Initiative Launch

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has initiated the enrollment of Ghanaian youth in its Artisanal Trades and Vocation Module, aiming to generate a minimum of 20,000 sustainable jobs over a two-year period. Addressing the persistent issue of youth unemployment as a national security concern, the YEA underscores the urgency to provide sustainable employment opportunities. The model involves collaboration with a registered private sector partner through a public-private partnership (PPP), focusing on ten trades and vocations to enhance the skills and capacity of unemployed youth nationwide. The project seeks to train and equip 20,000 young individuals by the end of 2024, fostering entrepreneurship, business management, and access to local and international markets. Emphasizing the affirmative action principle, a significant portion of beneficiary slots will be allocated to young women, encouraging self-employment and identifying entrepreneurial opportunities.

The YEA emphasizes the importance of developing local businesses, promoting commerce, and addressing youth unemployment through a comprehensive approach combining technical training, entrepreneurship, and provision of startup tools. The agency plans to establish an online database of qualified artisans to support the success of the initiative, and the registration portal is now open for interested applicants.

The portal for registration has been opened, and interested applicants can apply on
