Nigeria ranks third globally in enrolment for professional courses on Coursera

Sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing the highest average growth in professional course enrollment. The report indicates that Nigerians showed a competitive performance, scoring 51% in entrepreneurship for business courses, but fared poorly in strategy, operations (13%), finance (22%), and leadership and management (25%). Their performance in technology and data science was also unimpressive.

In comparison, South Africans achieved competitive scores in business skills overall, except in finance, human resources, and communication, where they scored below 50%. South Africans displayed interest in business skills courses like audit, investment management, innovation, and risk management, along with technology skills such as network architecture and computer programming.

The study highlights Sub-Saharan Africa's potential to become a digital skills learning hub, emphasizing the need for regional leaders to prioritize investments in technology and data science skills. The increasing enrollment figures in the region reflect a growing interest in professional development and upskilling, crucial for personal growth and career advancement.
