Asante Gold: UK to loan back Ghana's looted 'crown jewels'

The UK is returning 32 "crown jewels" looted from the Asante king's court in Ghana 150 years ago.

The Victoria & Albert Museum and the British Museum are participating in long-term loan agreements, with items such as a gold peace pipe, ceremonial cap, and sword of state being returned. The loans aim to foster cultural cooperation, but some nations fear it might imply UK ownership acknowledgment. The Asante artifacts, symbolizing the Asante royal government, will be displayed at the Manhyia Palace Museum in Kumasi under three-year agreements with an option to extend.
