During the 2023 AFCON, Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu clashed with local journalists in Ivory Coast after Ghana's elimination. The incident occurred when reporters, dissatisfied with Ghana's performance against Mozambique, voiced their discontent. Despite initial success with two penalty kicks, Ghana conceded two goals in four minutes, leading to their current 3rd place standing. Frustrated journalists expressed displeasure, prompting Salisu to confront them at the mixed zone, though security prevented physical altercations. This marks Ghana's second consecutive early exit in the tournament, having failed to progress beyond the first round. In the other Group B match, Egypt and Cape Verde drew, securing Egypt's second-place finish, one point ahead of Ghana.
